This is perhaps the most pleasant holiday resort area of Malta. The only disadvantage (or, conversely, an advantage) is that it is situated on the edge of the island, somewhat “detached” from the main resorts, Sliema — St Julian’s and Bugibba — Aura — of St Pauls Bay. But it is also very close to the neighbouring Islands of Gozo and Comino.
Mellieha is in the North-West of Malta. Its name is connected with the Maltese word “melħ”, “salt”, which is evaporated. The city’s population more than 7 500 people.
Mellieha is good primarily for its coasts and little built-up surroundings. So, if you love nature and Hiking, you’ll like it here. Also here is the biggest sandy beach in Malta is Mellieha Bay, relax on the very comfortable with small children: this is a shallow Bay. By the way, this is not the only beach in this part of the island.
