Kärdla – the administrative center and the largest city of the Estonian county of Hiiumaa. Received city status in 1938. The city has a sea harbor and the airport of the same name.
The city is located in the north-east coast of the second largest Estonian island of Hiiumaa, on the Baltic Sea coast in the Bay of Tareste Bay. To the south-east of the city is well-known crater, presumably left by a meteorite Kärdla.
