Porec – a large resort town on the west coast of Istria in Croatia, located 52 kilometers north of Pula and 33 km from Rovinj. The population – 17 460 people (2001).
Porec is one of the oldest cities on the peninsula, it is more than 2 000 years. His story began back in the II century BC, when the Romans founded a settlement called Castrum.
The city is situated in a very favorable location in the bay depth, covered with sea island of St. Nicholas. In the past, this fact has contributed to the rapid growth of Porec and its port.
