Poperinge is a town and municipality located in the province of West Flanders of Belgium. Located 8 km from Ypres. The region is famous for growing hops and the production of lace. Poperinge and the birthplace of Dirk Frimout, the first cosmonaut of Belgium. City Park named in his honor. During the Second world war, the town was located by the British forces.
Poperinge was behind the front line, it was an important center meetings soldier with loved ones. This explains the fact that the city suffered significantly during this time, and in its suburbs are a huge number of military cemeteries.
