Hugh Latimer, and Nicholas Ridley were imprisoned and later burned alive. Thomas Cranmer denied publicly, but Queen Mary Tudor, did not believe his sincerity, and gave the order to execute him. Thomas Cranmer before his death renounced his renunciation, at the University of Mary, with the Department, he expressed his Protestantism. On 21 March 1556, when Thomas Cranmer burned, he held out his hand to the fire and held her until she was not completely burned, and, repenting of his sin when he renounced Protestantism. The present place of execution, where they were burned Thomas Cranmer, is 20 metres from the monument and is marked with a red cross on the tile. The memorial was erected in 1851 on the collected funds from the public.
