Kromeriz – a town in the Czech Republic, known as Hana Athens (Hanácké Athény). Kromeriz is located in the eponymous district in the region of Zlin in eastern Moravia. The town lies on the banks of the Morava River, at an altitude of 201 meters above sea level. Kromeriz has 10 urban areas.
Kromeriz was founded in 1260 and has been owned by the Bishop of Olomouc, where their summer residence was built.
During the Thirty Years War the city twice captured the Swedes, and then came the plague. Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the town and castle began in the reign of Charles II, the bishop, who has decided to give Kromeriz princely appearance.
