The Silvretta ski arena, in addition to the Austrian Ischgl, includes the Swiss resort Samnaun and has a reputation like the coolest ski centre in Austria. But the crowds of tourists come here not only for adventures, night life, casual acquaintances and active informal recreation. Silvretta attracts lovers of lovers of skiing and snowboarding perfect riding conditions, laid soft and virgin snow, and a smart lift system. The only thing missing here, is of extreme skiing.
The steep rise of the popularity of the resort of Ischgl in Austria is quite unique. Up to 60-ies of XX century Tyrolean village of Ischgl in the Paznaun valley was known to mountaineers and skiers as a starting point in climbing the ski route “Classic Silvretta”.
The first ski lift (chairlift) to the top of the Idalp (Idalp, 2320 m) came here in 1963. In 1973 starts a gondola to the top of Pardatsch grat (Grat Pardatsch, 2630 m), and in 1977 there is a third lift from the valley to the highlands, where already by this time has formed a real infrastructure of ski resorts with restaurants, ten lifts and a private care style tracks.
