Hamilton, whose population five years ago exceeded five hundred thousand inhabitants, is a major port city in the province of Ontario. It was founded by George Hamilton who bought shortly after the war, one thousand eight hundred and twelfth year in local land farm Durand. Over time, the city became the center of industrialized and densely populated region on the shores of lake Ontario known as the Golden Horseshoe. Since the beginning of this century, the new city of Hamilton was formed from the constituent towns of the Hamilton-Wentworth and the old city. For more than thirty years a metropolis of Hamilton ranks ninth in the country and third in the province in terms of population.
