You’ll Banja Luka in the valley, at a height of 164 meters above the sea level. To the South it is fenced Dinaric mountains, in the North — Pannonian pool. The city is famous for its thermal springs. They, according to most researchers, gave the city such an unusual name.
The Vrbas river, which is Banja Luka, is not just a river. It represents an important part of the landscape of the city, dividing it into two parts. Many tributaries, empties into the Vrbas in the city: Urbana, Crkvena, Suturlija, Rijeka, Rakovica, Sarakawa. Vrbas flows from South to North. It is born as a mountain river canyon, and then gradually becomes a lowland river.
Vrbaski canyon is located at a distance of 12 km from Banja Luka. It is a unique ecosystem: the water is pure, the flora and fauna are diverse, there are a large number of rare cultural and natural monuments. That is why the territory Verbascose canyon is under protection since 1955.
