The town of Sliven is located in the Eastern part of the upper Thracian lowland, at the foot of Eastern Stara Planina mountains. The city is 279 km East of Sofia, 28 km Northwest of Yambol, 114 km West of Burgas. To the North of the town lies the nature Park “Blue stones”. Through the city of three rivers flow – Asenovska, Selina and Novoselska that divide the city into three parts.
In the city centre grows 600 year old elm was declared a historical monument.
The town has several interesting buildings-museums, built in Bulgarian national Revival style. The house-Museum Hadji Dimitar is located in the southwestern part of the city. The house consists of several buildings – home with home decoration, Inn and other outbuildings. Building teacher and poet Dobri Chintulov. The house-Museum of the Sliven life of the NINETEENTH century.
The city has art galleries, and organizes regular art exhibits, there is also the theatres – Drama and Puppet
